Terri Dien is a voice over artist with experience ranging from eLearning to audiobook narration. Her voiceover journey began in the early aughts, training in commercial work under Taylor Korobow at The Voice Factory in San Francisco. While there, she met up with a merry band of voice actors and together they formed The One Act Players - focusing on recreating old time radio serials such as Flash Gordon. From there, Terri’s voice work branched out to traffic reporting, web-based video games, and software tutorials.
More recently, she’s training with The Great Voice Company under the tutelage of voiceover legends Susan Berkely and DeBorah Pryor. Under GVC’s guidance, Terri constructed a broadcast-quality recording studio in her home and has taken a series of performance and narration master classes.
Terri also turned to Elise Arsenault, of the Global Actor team to sharpen her audiobook narration and acting techniques with their coursework entitled, The Great Audiobook Adventure.
Currently, Terri’s main focus areas are in eLearning and audiobook narration. She enjoys conveying messages, emotions and environments with just the tone of her warm and down to earth voice; and leans into a guidance persona she developed from her 20+ year career as a chef instructor. She expresses a reassuring and knowledgeable stance in an upbeat manner that is encouraging while empathetic.
For audiobooks, she authentically interprets the scene and brings depth to the characters and story. For works of fiction, she loves mystery thrillers where strong female characters are the center of the story as well as romance and young adult genres. Terri can assume identities that range from young adult to middle-aged, student to corporate professional, serial killer to detective (and most characters in between); voicing them with sensitivity and originality. Think of her as the cool aunt, the self-reliant independent business owner, the determined investigator that stops at nothing, or the by-the-book lawyer who won’t suffer fools.
Can she add additional layers to her narration? She sure can! If your characters run towards a bubbly and bright next-door neighbor, a blunt, sarcastic New Yorker, or that Asian “Tiger Mom,” know that Terri can provide the right voice to your colorful cast of characters.
When she’s not in her recording studio, you can find her in the kitchens at Google’s Mountain View headquarters where she works as an instructional designer developing culinary trainings for the chefs and cooks that operate their world-famous food service.
At home, Terri can be found among her vast cookbook collection (of which she authored 4), baking sourdough bread, and cooking for her husband Paul, her parents, and their 19-year old cat Sarah.
